Happy Chinese New Year! We hope that everyone had a great CNY this year!

Back to the story, we had to postpone our meeting with Henry to yesterday as he was not available during the week leading up to CNY. The main purpose of our meeting yesterday was basically to firm up the carpentry work. Henry had brought along his carpenter, Ah Teck, who liaised directly with us the type of carpentry needed for the kitchen cabinets and the bedroom wardrobe. Besides selecting the veneer colour and laminates for the various cabinets, we also had to select the LG Hi-Macs solid surface top which we want for the kitchen cabinet top. Our eventual choice was a Arctic White top as our cabinets are mainly dark in colour. Henry also told us that we needed to get our air con up as soon as possible so that painting can proceed.

Today, our search led us back to Hoe Kee, where we purchased close to $150 worth of toilet accessories. We purchased 4 frosted glass shelves where 2 will be mounted at each toilet sink, 2 towel holders (1 single, 1 double) and 4 corner glass shelves.

Next, we visited Noble Lighting House which had been highly recommended in Renotalk forums as we didn't manage to get the bedroom lights in our last visit to Chan Huat. We went away with 3 bedroom lights and also an additional storeroom light (which we had mistakenly purchased, thinking that we hadn't gotten it at Chan Huat).

Our search for a System 3 aircon led us to Gain City at Suntec, which specialises in aircon sales. We were basically looking at a Mitsubishi Starmex Easy Clean System 3 non-inverter and also a Toshiba System 3 non-inverter. Besides being unimpressed by the prices at Gain City ($2,019 for Mitsubishi, $1889 for Toshiba), the 1-year warranty period served to make us even more appalled. Having read Renotalk forums, we decided to make a call to Hong Tar and the price quoted over the phone was $1,880 for the Mitsubishi and $1,700 for the Toshiba. Another call to Kai Soon gave us a bigger surprise - the Mitsubishi was going for $1,800 and the Toshiba was $1,650. There's a high possibility that we would go for Kai Soon, given the lower price, but I would have to confirm with them the model of the aircon and also the insulation, copper pipes used.

Next, we visited Tanjong Katong Shopping Centre, where Jimmy Textiles reside in. The rough quotation given to us was $1,100 for full length day & night curtains for the living room, full length night curtains for Bedroom 3 and Master Bedroom and half length night curtains for Bedroom 2. The choice of materials were the mid-range ones and for track instead of rods. We also checked with the lady and she said that it would be better to use tracks since there are beams directly above the windows.

We've arranged for Noble and Hoe Kee to deliver the lights, sink, tap and toilet accessories. What's next for me to do is to arrange for Kai Soon's contractor to drop by my place so that they can advise on the air con trunking routes. I also need to call up City Gas to arrange for the delivery of my hob and hood and also Chan Huat for the delivery of the other lights.
